Sustainable commercial residential building

In my final year at the architecture university, I had the exciting opportunity to design a sustainable commercial-residential building. This project aimed to create a functional and environmentally friendly building that could accommodate both residential and commercial activities.

To achieve this, I had to conduct extensive research on sustainable building practices, as well as zoning regulations and best practices for designing mixed-use buildings. I also had to consider factors such as accessibility, energy efficiency, and material selection to ensure the building would be eco-friendlier.

Throughout the project, I worked with my peers and professors to refine and improve my design, incorporating features such as green roofs, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable materials. Additionally, I designed the building to accommodate different activities, such as residential units, office spaces, and retail shops, to create a vibrant and multi-functional community.

One of the most exciting aspects of this project was designing the building's interior and exterior spaces, each aimed at creating a welcoming and sustainable environment for occupants. For example, I incorporated elements such as natural lighting, ventilation, and greenery to create a healthier and more comfortable living and working space.

Throughout the project, I presented my design to my class for feedback and evaluation, further honing my communication and critical thinking skills. I also gained a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in designing a sustainable commercial-residential building, from material selection to energy-efficient systems.

In the end, I was proud to have created a functional and sustainable commercial-residential building that could serve as a model for future mixed-use developments. This project allowed me to develop valuable skills in sustainable design, critical analysis, and project management, preparing me for a successful career in architecture.
